It’s refreshing. It’s freeing. It’s amazing. It makes me hunger even more for Him- my daily bread.

The Story.

This year I wanted to have a more clear and focused approach to reading the Bible. I have tried many different approaches in the past, but this year it has been about reading the Word to know God and His character. It seems so basic and simple, but I can easily miss who He is when I am reading His Word.

Back in January, I heard about a Bible plan called The Bible Recap. It takes you through the Bible chronologically in a year- something I have always wanted to do, but felt I would surely fail to do- so never fully committed to. The thing that caught my attention about this plan was the focus on asking God to show me who He is each day of scripture reading and to look for aspects of His character as I read. I have been absolutely amazed every day at how amazing He is! Every story within The Story testifies of His amazing goodness, kindness, mercy, love, holiness, trustworthiness, etc. I love approaching His Word this way. It’s refreshing. It’s freeing. It’s amazing. It makes me hunger even more for Him- my daily bread. I also have a much better understanding than ever before of The Story and how everything fits together.

Have I stayed perfectly on track with the reading plan? No! But I have learned that it’s ok. He is gracious. I haven’t been “behind” but have been right where I was supposed to be on that specific day where/when I picked back up.

When we began this new sermon series- and each Sunday since- I felt like the Holy Spirit has been prompting me to share this with you all. Maybe you’ve read through the Bible a dozen times, or maybe you have barely made it through one book. Or maybe you keep getting to the book of Leviticus and giving up. Wherever you find yourself, God’s Word is alive and will speak to you in new ways in the different seasons that you are in.

So, I want to invite all of you to consider giving the Bible Recap a try and digging deeper into His Word. You can click on the link below or just search “The Bible Recap” under plans on your You Version Bible app. It’s free. There is also a free podcast to listen to each day that goes along with the reading. The podcast is a quick recap of the reading for the day along with Tara-Leigh Cobble sharing her personal “God shot” from that days reading.

Feel free to partner up with someone and keep each other accountable or even gather a small group together around His Word.
