simple.

People of all ages deal with situations that bring feelings of uncertainty and instability. Personally, I am speaking as a believer in her early 20’s. A time of life where it feels as though every turn I make holds a new question about my future. Where should I live? Who should I spend my time with? Where should I work? Do I need more of an education? How is God asking me to serve Him? What should I be prioritizing during this stage of my life? All sorts of questions that have so easily consumed me in the past.
Recently, God has walked me through a true heart and mindset change.
Psalm 73:25-26 says “Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
If I boil down every question or concern about the future, I end with this- it simply does not matter. If I believe God is my portion forever, if I truly desire nothing on earth besides God, then these issues become so minuscule. If we place so much weight on this life, then we will feel so heavy throughout every step we take.
Life with Jesus becomes simple. Living for His glory, and living for eternity, is freeing and relieving. Psalm 63:3, “Because His steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you.” His love is bigger and better than all the struggles you are experiencing. When life seems full of uncertainty, consider asking Jesus to step in and simplify until nothing is clouding your mission to serve and glorify Him.
If one thing is certain, it is that loving Jesus is simple, and being loved by Jesus is simple. This life and this world will try to complicate those truths. My prayer is that peace and freedom will be found in the simplicity that can come with Christ-centered living.
